Pilgrimage Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary and the Cistercian Provost Office

In the year 1707 the architect Jan Blazej Santini began working for the monastery in Plasy. Approval of the project of the new pilgrimage church in Marianska Tynice was mentioned in the memorial record in the year 1710. Nevertheless, the construction itself proceeded very slowly. The western cloister yard and the enclosure walls of the church were completed by the end of the Abbot Tyttl's life (1738). The construction work finished in the year 1751, the church was decorated and it was not consecrated until the year 1762. After dissolution of the Plasy monastery in the year 1784, the premises in Marianska Tynice remained almost non-maintained for 150 years and these emergency conditions came to a head by ruin of the cupola and the church vaults in the year 1920. The confederacy for preservation of Marianska Tynice was repairing the cloisters in successive steps and roofed the church temporarily. The main cupola of the shrine was not raised again until the year 2005. The church building was situated on the ground plan of a Greek cross. There is a characteristic cupola above its axis and the arms are covered by garret roofs. The western cloister yard has been complemented by corner chapels. They were build on a sexangular ground plan and covered by vaults. The whole building of the provost office and the church makes an immensely clear impression in its solitaire design, situated separately within the landscape with extraordinary perspective zones, and it is an example of Santini's conceptual activity.
